Sex Therapy in Seattle and Washington State

What is Sex Therapy?

Sex therapy is a specialty or a niche in counseling. I utilize my sex therapy training and integrate it into all of my work with clients. It doesn’t have to be the focus of your journey, but we can explore and get curious in a safe space that we co-create together. Whether it be relating to ourselves or each other, our sexuality, pleasure, and intimacy is deeply human and connects us all.

How We Can Work Together

EMDR and Sexual Trauma

I provide specialized therapy for individuals who have experienced sexual trauma. My approach is holistic incorporating the biological, social, sexual, spiritual, and psychological parts of each individual. I am certified in EMDR, a specific therapy geared towards helping people heal from past traumatic memories. I combine my sex therapy training, EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, and Somatic body work to help clients process trauma they have experienced.

Individual Sex Therapy

Sex therapy can also be the focus of our work together for individual counseling. It is a safe, non-judgemental space to address any challenges you might be facing or for exploring your sexual desires, identity, and everything in between. Therapy includes: exploring identities and orientations, pain during sex, performance concerns, sexual trauma, desire discrepancy, out of control sexual behaviors, body image, marginalized sexual identities, and self-confidence.

Relationship Sex Therapy

Relationship sex therapy is a framework in which I can help partnerships deepen their fulfillment in sexuality and intimacy. Therapy includes: intimacy and connection, desire discrepancy, communication skills, infidelity or rupture, various relationship structures (ethical non-monogamy, polyamory), and conflict resolution.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are sex therapy sessions?

Length of sessions are typically 50 minutes. With client requests or therapist suggestions, we can accommodate longer, 80 minute sessions at an additional cost.

What do you actually do in a sex therapy session?

First and foremost, we will provide space and permission for you to explore whatever brings you to sex therapy in a respectful way! This will look different with each provider and with each individual concern and experience. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, rather we will work collaboratively to address the goals that you have in coming to see a sex therapist. Sex therapy includes talk therapy practices, as well as some practical interventions that you can utilize at home, either solo or partnered.

Do sex therapists provide touch contact with their clients?

Sex therapists do not provide sexual or touch-based practices with clients. We often work collaboratively with outside providers who can help with body functioning or sexual concerns including pelvic floor specialists, medical providers, or other varying specialists. While we consider ourselves part of your holistic care team, no touch or visual examinations take place during therapeutic sessions.

Are you kink friendly?

Yes!

Are you lgbtq+ friendly?

Yes!

What is Somatic body work?

Somatic body work incorporates the connection we hold with our bodies into the therapy space. Instead of focusing solely on traditional talk therapy, somatic therapy invites body sensations, held traumas, nervous system responses, and our emotional experiences as they arise both in the mind and body.

What is Polyvagal Theory?

Polyvagal Theory incorporates utilizing your nervous system to better understand what is happening inside of you. Our nervous system works to protect us from threats depending on our life experiences. By understanding what our nervous system perceives as a “threat” vs “safety” we can begin to hold more awareness and work to alter our behaviors to align with what is happening in the moment instead of a past conditioned nervous system response.

Are you sex positive?

Yes!
